CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM UP AND RUNNING IN THE NORTHWEST!
When Congress created the Children’s Health Insurance Program in 1997, NWFCO affiliates moved quickly to ensure that the Northwest states accept the funding and establish quality health care programs. In Idaho, the Idaho Community Action Network celebrated a major victory when the Governor used the CHIP funds to expand Medicaid eligibility to 150 percent of the federal poverty level, rather than create the bare-bones private insurance program that many of his supporters wanted.
