This year Washington Citizen Action celebrated a major victory when Governor Gregoire signed legislation to expand the state´s prescription drug purchasing pool to individuals and private entities. The outcome of a multi-year campaign spearheaded by WCA, Washington now has one of the strongest pieces of prescription drug law in the country. Based on savings realized by other states with similar buying consortiums, this new law should save Washington state agencies at least $65 million annually in direct prescription drug costs.
